Life has a way of reshaping us through its challenges and triumphs. After taking the time I needed to heal from the circumstances that led to my divorce, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. With the loving support of my new partner, I began rebuilding a life that aligned with my heart and values.
During this season, our horses were boarded 15 miles away from town. Despite the drive, we visited daily—except when snowstorms made the roads impassable. Those barn visits became a sanctuary. The scent of hay, the soft nickers of our horses, and the quiet rhythm of brushing their coats became my refuge. That peaceful space gave me a chance to breathe, find my center, and release anxiety. It became my therapy.
People in our community began to take notice. We often heard, “I wish I could do what you’re doing, but owning horses is too expensive.”
Their words planted a seed in my heart. We had dreamed of having the horses in our own backyard. But now, that dream expanded—we wanted to share the experience of healing through horses with others, especially those who might never have the chance otherwise.
Not long after, I stumbled upon a Life Coach certification program. Something in me lit up. I enrolled, hoping to connect with like-minded people who embraced holistic living. What I didn’t expect was how deeply it would shape my sense of purpose. The core principles of coaching—healing, resilience, connection—echoed what I felt in the barn. I realized that the peace I found with horses could become a bridge for others seeking emotional wellness and inner clarity.
Holistic living had already been part of my life for years. As a longtime essential oil distributor, I understood the value of natural remedies. I’d learned network marketing, taught myself website design, explored HTML and WordPress, mastered SEO and social media. These skills became the foundation of Healing Horse Touch’s online presence.
My passion for energy healing also deepened. I became a Reiki Master and found myself drawn to the soothing energy of crystals. Each new step was a layer of healing and discovery. The more I learned, the more I felt called to share not just a quiet moment with a horse—but a full-hearted equine-assisted journey of healing.
Finding the right property to bring this dream to life was no small task. There were moments we wanted to give up, when the obstacles seemed too great. But something—a quiet voice within, or perhaps my partner’s unwavering faith—kept us going. After years of searching and saving, we finally found the place that felt right. Moving in was the beginning of something beautiful, and building a welcoming, healing space has taken time, heart, and persistence.
As introverts, stepping into a public-facing mission was intimidating. Creating an online community came more naturally than hosting in-person experiences—but both have brought deep joy. The process also sparked a new creative outlet for me: designing horse-themed merchandise. What started as a fun project grew into an online store where I now share my love for horses through unique, meaningful products.
I also realized my years of homeschooling, along with my coaching background, could form the foundation for new offerings—courses blending the lessons I’d learned with the transformative presence of horses. Healing, resilience, mindfulness, and joy—all tied to the gentle wisdom of our four-legged teachers.
Then came the next big step: planning a nonprofit. We knew making equine-assisted activities accessible to all would require a formal structure. The idea felt bold and a bit overwhelming—but deeply right. We wanted to welcome people of all ages and abilities, regardless of their financial situation.
At the same time, a unique opportunity opened up. I took on a part-time job supporting family members with disabilities. It was a new chapter—but also a blessing. The extra income helped us fund the early stages of Healing Horse Touch. Every part of the journey has been shaped by grace, grit, and gratitude.
Today, Healing Horse Touch is still growing, but the dream is alive and thriving. We are building a community where people can Discover Healing, Connection, and Renewal through Horses. Every challenge along the way has led us here, guided by love, faith, and a fierce belief in the healing power of horses.
