Feeding Hong Kong is a Hong Kong registered charity established in 2011. Our mission is to save quality surplus food from going to landfills while delivering food security in Hong Kong. We also work to raise awareness about food waste, food poverty and food banking in the city. We are Hong Kong’s sole accredited member of the Global Food Banking Network, an international organisation dedicated to creating and strengthening food banks and national food bank networks. Every day, we collect surplus food from producers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and caterers and deliver it to a network of partner charities, who in turn, provide food to vulnerable communities in Hong Kong. By supporting existing grassroots feeding programmes, we make efficient use of established distribution channels and can focus our own resources on the highest standards in food collection, storge and transportation. In 2024, we rescued over 1,200 tonnes of surplus food, saved 2.2 million kgs in carbon emissions and supported 3.3 million meals for vulnerable communities. We work with over 150 charity partners; each is a registered Hong Kong NGO with a focus on providing food support to help strengthen their communities. Our particular emphasis is on small and medium sized NGOs. They include crisis shelters, senior support services, refugee and new immigrant community centres, after school clubs and other non-profit programmes that provide food to vulnerable groups. Together, they support approximately 350,000 people per month.
